Text Ads for Google Display Network
The Google Display Network allows you to advertise on various websites within the Google network using text ads. There are three ways to show display ads: managed placements, automatic placements and remarketing ads (see: Google Display Network for more info).
Writing ads on the Google display network is different from writing ads for the Google search network. When you’re writing ads for the display network, keep in mind that a customer is browsing content as opposed to searching for products or services. Because these searchers are on websites that are similar to yours, your main focus should be quickly catching their attention. Make sure you have a clear call to action that will entice these potential customers to leave competitor websites to visit yours.
Asking a question in your ad headline can help draw visitors’ attention to your ad. Once you pique their interest, you have a much better chance of getting them to click on your ad to get more information about your products and/or services.
Consider standing in line at the grocery store. Checkout stations are lined with magazines with enticing headlines designed to grab your attention and get you to buy. This is the same effect you want your ads to have on potential customers when they see your ads on the display network.
